Democrat Gov. Janet Mills strongly opposed voter ID during a debate with her opponents on Tuesday evening, saying Maine residents “don’t need” to show proof of identification and argued it would “inhibit” voting.
The debate moderators asked Mills, Republican candidate and former Maine Gov. Paul LePage, and Independent challenger Sam Hunkler if they were each prepared to accept the gubernatorial election results. LePage said he would “absolutely” accept the results and criticized the moderators for asking that question instead of bringing up the FBI and big tech’s interference in the 2020 election.I’ve never rejected any election, including the 2020 presidential election. And I think that’s an absurd question, quite frankly. I will tell you one thing I’m concerned about. You talk about democracy, but one thing you did not mention, is censorship from the left.
“We don’t need it here in Maine,” Mills responded. “We don’t need it. We have integrity in our elections. We have a huge turnout, which is which validates our democracy.”

February 2022 NYC: the mask mandate had just been repealed. We are visiting. The restaurants and theater VIGOROUSLY checked ID’s & Vax cards or you didn’t get in. Period. They were aggressive. So you need a Gov issued ID to walk into a restaurant in NYC…but not to vote.

After 9/11 almost every NYC office building public and private required state-issued ID for entry. It was not race-based or other criteria it was plain common sense and no one complained. WTF to vote in NYC you need an ID or you get a provisional ballot. Woke up, Ms. Gov.

Let's see when I go to vote they look up my name. If my name wasn't on their registry, I would not be able to vote. I would gladly present my driver's license, passport, or FOID card, but no, you have to be registered to vote. Seems kind of hard to cheat.

In Maine, elections are held in town offices where everyone knows each other. Voter registries are manned and we need to state our name for a ballot. We’re a very small populace so it’s easy to keep up with changes. The ID system may be unnecessary.
Seems the voter id cards should be used in every state… as to make sure that it’s done correctly and no one can vote over and over again. As it will be on record that person, voted already with the voter ID card.
Ok a serial number on each ballot so duplicates or fakes won’t be introduced.
