Ryan Gosling has named Sylvester Stallone as his favorite action movie star. 'He's such a good actor. [Y]ou got action, but you've got these amazing characters at the center of it. It was just like, it was a beautiful marriage. I miss those days.'🙌

The Gray Man star Ryan Gosling says that his favorite action movie star growing up was Sylvester Stallone. Having created both the Rocky and Rambo franchises, Stallone has been a staple of Hollywood ever since, starring in multiple action films throughout his long career. Stallone was at the top of the action genre throughout the 80s and 90s, starring in movies like Cobra, Over The Top, Tango & Cash, Demolition Man, and Cliffhanger, as well as multiple sequels to Rocky and Rambo.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Gosling has taken a more indie film route with his career, making a name for himself early on in projects like The Notebook, Half Nelson, Lars and the Real Girl, Blue Valentine, and Crazy, Stupid Love. However, the actor began to experiment with more action-oriented fare with films like the critically-acclaimed Drive, Gangster Squad, The Nice Guys, and Blade Runner 2049.

"I think, look, Stallone. Stallone. He's such a good actor. So you got action, but you've got these, like, amazing characters at the center of it. It was just like, it was a beautiful marriage. I miss those days." Gosling saying he "miss[es] those days" is understandable, as Stallone hit a slump in the early 2000s. However, the actor has since bounced back with a diverse batch of projects, including sequels to Rambo and appearances in the Rocky spinoff franchise, Creed. The actor also appeared in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and voiced King Shark in The Suicide Squad. He'll next be seen in The Expendables 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.

It's always interesting to hear what influenced actors early on, as it's frequently similar to what influenced other fans growing up. Stallone was the king of the box office alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and Jean-Claude Van Damme throughout the 80s and 90s, long before superheroes ruled supreme over it. Given that, it's fun to hear Gosling name drop the actor without hesitation as his action guy of the era.
