The victim, identified by several Canadian and Mexican media as Raphaël Huppé, 44, was found dead on Monday. Mexican authorities said he and a woman found with him, identified as Fannie Lorrain, appeared to have died from stab wounds to the neck.According to court records, a bench warrant seeking Huppé’s arrest was issued at the Montreal courthouse on March 16, 2016, when he failed to show up for a date in a case that began in 2014.
A judge found him guilty of having acted as a broker without being represented as such by the AMF. The AMF’s investigation revealed that between June 2008 and June 2010, Huppé illegally encouraged investors to purchase shares of Effective Control Transport Inc. for an amount totalling $740,000.
The decision describes how the man was hired as the company’s vice-president of marketing in January 2014. He was told he would be paid a salary of $125,000 per year plus an allowance of $750 per month for car expenses. His contract was never signed and, after just a few months, he found himself taking orders from Huppé to do things like restock the company’s toilet paper as well as get coffee for the employees.
The man ended up being fired in October 2014. He described Huppé as an imposing figure who stood 6 feet 4 inches tall, swore often and treated him “like a piece of s—.”
