TORONTO - A Dene filmmaker says he was “disappointed” and “close to tears” when security at the Cannes Film Festival blocked him from walking the red carpet while dressed in a pair of moccasins.
Redvers obliged, but he says he hopes speaking out about his experience leads Cannes organizers to rethink what counts as formal wear when it comes to representing different cultures on their red carpets. Cannes is notoriously strict about formalwear at many of its red carpet premieres – requiring a black tie for men and evening gowns for women – however, some traditional formal wear is accommodated, such as Scottish kilts and Indian saris.
ahh yes, the French
So? Ever heard of a dress code?
And rightfully so..their not a reserve. Rules and regulations are world wide
Proven? absolutely nothing
Boycott Festival_Cannes don't allow these racist tactics! The indigenous have suffered enough at the hands of the whites
He should have worn a suit with proper shoes. And don't respond with virtue-signaling pc bullshit.
Would he have been given Green light if he wore a pair of Red High Heels
Apparently Cannes has a formal dress code and their own set of cultural traditions. One needs to respect those local traditions when visiting territory away from home. To break the hosts rules in the hosts house is arrogant and entitled.
