'I cannot speak to the intentions of my accuser or Netflix, but the impact on me has been incalculable,' the actor said in a lengthy response to his firing from the limited series following a misconduct investigation.

“I have been canceled. Just like that,” his column begins. “In the increasing madness that currently pervades our industry, I could not have imagined that the words collateral damage would fall upon my shoulders.”

Langella says he was asked to give his former co-star, who ultimately didn’t return to set, some space. An investigation was opened, he says, and he was next contacted approximately a week later by Netflix’s human resources department. He alleges that during a phone call, the events of the incident were read back to him, including a note that the intimacy coordinator had instructed him where both actors should place their hands.

Funny how he was on a show with an actual intimacy coordinator who detailed explicitly what the blocking was and this man, who is supposedly a professional, thought he didn’t need to follow what the intimacy coordinator explicitly laid out.

He couldn’t follow directions and he bevaved badly, why doesn’t your headline address that?

Shoulda followed your job's very simple instructions and not sexually harassed the women on the set you were working with. Or at all, period.

I'm tired of rich white people whining about being cancelled when what's going on is just consequences of their actions.

FFS, it's not the 60s anymore. Get over it Frank. Like there's time in this world to deal with his bruised ego.

Here, let me translate that for Frank: 'I got myself fired.'

Frank Langella Responds to Firing From Netflix’s ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’: “I Have Disgraced Myself.” Fixed that for him, and y’all.

How sad. His stance that he's 'collateral damage' makes it very unlikely he's going to take any accountability for his actions. That's what will affect his chances at future employment, along with his refusal to evolve with the times. But he'll just blame it on cancel culture.

Actors are told where to stand, what to wear & say. There is creative license within those parameters, & different directors allow more or less. The Intimacy Coordinator has a role in this now - as it should have been from the beginning.

Reading between the lines… they didn’t WANT to fire him, but he wouldn’t agree to NOT do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted, in “intimate” scenes… i.e. he was going to make his women co-star(s) feel unsafe every single time. He left them no choice but to fire him.

I'd you get sacked because you don't, or do, like pineapple on pizza, you'll could clam to be 'cancelled', but if its for sexual harassment, that's not being cancelled, that's consequences. There's a world of difference.

No, he was fired for not being able to do the literal one thing actors are hired to do…follow direction. Which includes not sexually harassing or touching your costars without consent.

'I've been canceled'

'Sexual Predator Fired, Finally Some Accountability'

So he got fired for being a creep and is whining about it? Don't care.

Don't touch people up then, Skeletor

Deceiving headline 'Old White Man ignores direction and gets fired for harassing actress' Get your shit together

Ahem!

Predators love to make themselves the victims.

Gets fired for doing something that he knew would get him fired... writes a guest column to defend himself... Not 'Cancelled'... just 'Revealed'

So, he was asked if the things happened as described, he confirms that they did, now he's complaining that he wasn't given the chance to say his own part? That's some bold faced lying and you're reporting should reflect that.

Like Weinstein and Prince Andrew?

no, you were fired for touching someone inappropriately lmao tell us the full story

That last line is completely meant to state how ridiculous the ‘new order’ is but he fails to realize that with joke/compliment/touch they meant his brand of gross jokes, compliments and touches

Why media, like you, and some actor don't know or don't like the word consent and respect for other, especially body, person?

“i refused to follow simple directions that are a part of my job and they ~canceled~ me for it!!! this is just like 1984!!!”

He was not cancelled, he was fired but he is going to get canceled now for refusing to realise why he got fired.

'These days you can't even grope who you like under the pretence of acting! It's political correctness gone mad!'

Fuck around and find out…

I mean, if he likes non-concentual touching of body parts, I'm sure there'd be a few people out there willing to connect their fists with his nose. Ha, Netflix probably thought it was a great opportunity to throw him in with the annual purge of shows. Just to 'cancel' him.

Imagine crying about a stunt coordinator telling you where to stand for an explosion.

Calling someone baby or honey is now sexual harassment?! I was raped twice. THAT’s f***ing harassment. Me Too has gone insane. Langella is a brilliant actor. I wish he’d sue.

Sounds like he decided to cop a feel, to be 'spontaneous' in the moment. He forgot that he's being paid to act with someone who's not there for HIS enjoyment, and he still can't understand what he did was wrong. Welcome to 2022 where you don't get to grope your coworkers. JFC

Okay but what if it was a fight scene and someone punched him for real? Would he be okay with it?

Maybe don't fucking grope people, Frank.

Oh no, what will we do without...Frank Langella.

Your headline should read: 'Actor fired for sexually assaulting a coworker and is suffering the consequences for his actions.'

And I only love Flanagan harder…

Good

Man mistakes love scene between two actors not in an actual relationship for an actual relationship with different rules.

Tip: Try not to molest people

'Actor fired for being unable to do his job by following simple on-set instructions & sexually harassing women' has a better ring to it, ngl

Cancelled for simply sexually harassing people and refusing to follow instructions multiple times.

YTA

Canceled? No, not yet but he's pretty old so..

Bruce Greenwood rocks! Looking forward to seeing him in the role.

Dear Frank, unwanted sexual touching is what’s canceled. You had the option to do your job with professionalism, chose not to, and got fired. Not apologizing will ensure you don’t get hired. All of this is your choice.

I feel like some actors don’t like it when their job is treated the way any other job is.

LMAO. He makes it seem like he's announcing cancer lol. 'Never thought in a million years I'll be saying this but....*starts weeping* I have been cancelled. BMCarbaugh

John Smith Responds to Firing From McDonalds for Smoking Weed On Break: I Have Been Canceled

The fact that he needed to be told not to touch 😶

His words: 'When you are the leading actor... you set an example by keeping the atmosphere light and friendly... the allegations: 1. 'He told an off-color joke. 2. 'Sometimes he called me ‘baby’ or ‘honey.’ 3. 'He’d give me a hug or touch my shoulder.” This is professionalism?

People who want free reign to take advantage of other people are so scary 😭😭

Langella has forgotten how to take direction.

'I have been cancelled' old white man says on massive media platform. 🙄

Good thing I’m no actir and will never get to act with him, instinct and spontaneity may have led to an huge kick in the nuts...

No. That is called a consequence.

TL;DR Old white man told No first time in his life. Hysterics ensued 😒😒😒

And yet I have no doubt he would observe the same stricture from a fight director as gospel.

Dude had a job, then didn't do what the people employing him asked him to do, so he was fired. Seems pretty simple to me.

He admits he did everything in the accusation. Then announces in a national publication that he’s cancelled. And is upset he can’t call a young woman sexual names and touch her wherever he wants. I just….

Langella’s essay is bizarre. Did he think THIS would engender sympathy? “My first instinct was to blame. To lash out and seek vengeance. I interviewed crisis managers, tough connected lawyers…” 🤔 “Tough connected lawyers” are just professional bullies.

'Actor fired for not following onset direction, sexually harassing coworker. Then, he whines about it in the press.' Fixed your headline.

My solidarity with this great actor and good man, other victim of Far Left´s violence

Incredible poor frank

” This is when, Langella says, she stated he had touched her leg, acknowledging it wasn’t in the blocking, and afterward, “turned and walked off the set, followed by the director and the intimacy coordinator.” No wonder China thinks it can eat America's lunch.

Threatening to pack or intimidating the court in retaliation for Roe is felony extortion and coercion. The Dems are committing high crimes against the Republic. We must ensure all perpetrators are held accountable for this criminal behavior/insurrection.

No. You been held accountable for your own actions. Responsibility.

Ok. I can live with that.

Sounds to me like these old actors need handlers to remind them that it isn't 1955 any more.... Well at least until the SCOTUS finishes dismantling Civil Rights, then it will be 1955 again.

😂

We're meant to believe Netflix would have spent millions of dollars on a midseason recast cause of a hug, calling someone baby and touching her shoulder? I call BS.
