Mandatory credit SWEN STUDIOS/Handout via REUTERSLOS ANGELES, Oct 29 - The armorer who oversaw guns used in filming of Western movie "Rust" said producers allowed for an "unsafe" movie set and rejected her requests for training and other measures before actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed a cinematographer.

Holding both positions "made it extremely difficult to focus on her job as an armorer," the statement said, adding that Gutierrez fought for training, days to maintain weapons, and proper time to prepare for scenes with gunfire."The whole production set became unsafe due to various factors, including lack of safety meetings," they added. "This was not the fault of Hannah.

Guns on the set were locked up at night and at lunch, "and there's no way a single one of them was unaccounted for or being shot by crew members," they added. Baldwin, who has said he is heartbroken and cooperating with authorities, also served as a producer on the movie.

andreamoignard Such a tragedy but If she felt that unsafe that she made requests that were not met then why didn’t she leave.

Curious that your story didn’t say that Baldwin is one of the producers

But wasn’t she not actually involved with this? Wasn’t it the AD who retrieved the gun from an unaccompanied cart and declared it a “cold gun” without thoroughly checking it w/ the armorer?

You never point a gun, fake or not, at anyone/thing u don't intend to shoot. If alec followed this simple rule, the worst outcome here would've been someone getting fired and broken equipment. He is ultimately criminally liable. But then again, epstein did not kill himself.

The producers must be held accountable

Bad attitude by producers.

Nothing or nobody should ever over ride your safety checks. Are you a scapegoat?

Smelling like a setup.

Lol sure. Or it could be that everyone was a train wreck of incompetent buffoons... Or it could be that someone wanted her dead.

'Rust' armorer attorneys blame producers for 'unsafe' setAttorneys for Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was in charge of weapons on the movie set where Alec Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, say she doesn't know where the live rounds found there came from, and blamed producers for unsafe working conditions. Dave Halls has a lot of explaining to do This whole situation breaks my brain. Bullshit scape goating........it was her ONLY job. However it should be a lesson to all producers......movie sets are no place for real guns ever!
