'This image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy,' declared singer Halsey upon revealing the cover art for her upcoming fourth album.

One of music’s most talked-about new artists, Halsey has come a long way in the four years since she left home at age 17.

“The next thing I knew, I was on stage miscarrying in the middle of my concert,” she said. “And the sensation of lookingin the face while you’re bleeding through your clothes and still having to do the show ... “In that moment, I was like, ‘I don’t ever want to have to make that choice ever again — doing what I love, or not being able to because of this disease. So I put my foot down, and I got really aggressive about seeking treatment and had surgery a year ago, and I feel a lot better.”Halsey’s next studio album, produced by Oscar-winning musical duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, arrives Aug. 27.
