The problem is that, in a leadership role, we have to be willing to let people grow into their roles and figure out the best ways to get the job done. It’s one thing if a leader has demonstrably better skills and wants to micromanage, but it’s much worse if a leader wants something done their way without any demonstrated expertise in that area. You can see this when a boss starts wordsmithing marketing copy despite not being a writer, or reworking an employee survey with no expertise in research, or reordering a user interface with no UI background, and so on.
