has no shortage of creative ideas and homages when it comes to her music videos. And the latest one that she drops for “Streets” is absolutely no exception to that rule.is a slow R&B and trap ballad that features Doja’s signature blend of airy and breathy singing with edgy rap verses. It’s one of the darker, moodier songs off the records that allows her to pull off a much more sultry vibe.
The song’s Christian Breslauer-directed music video starts off in a traffic jam showing a cab driver suddenly enticed by the mannequin in the store window, played by Doja herself. The beat for the song drops as the mannequin then becomes a silhouette, a reference to the song’s popularity on TikTok as the “Silhouette Challenge.
As the song transitions into the rap verse, Doja then starts scaling a building and our protagonist like spider-woman. This eventually transforms into a 50s living room with Doja lying on the lap of another mannequin. The room is burned up by a nuclear explosion, a reference to a meme of. One more silhouette challenge later, we’re back to the start where Doja is now a passenger in the man’s cab, asking for him to go.
Doja Cat will be performing at the 63rd Grammy Awards this Sunday, where she is up for three awards, including Record of the Year and Best New Artist. Meanwhile, check out her video for “Streets” below:
