A Tasmanian teacher's desire to support health service workers has snowballed into a huge community effort
Bekk Taylor put her part-time catering business on hold to make and distribute food for medical and emergency staffTwo weeks ago, Bekk Taylor decided to bake some cupcakes for medical staff after a COVID-19 outbreak at Burnie's North West Regional and North West Private hospitals. Now she's ended up working with three chefs, drivers, and a good chunk of the community to deliver treats, meals, and hampers to ambos, pathologists and police, as well as the soldiers who were flown in to help during the crisis.
"Our healthcare workers were receiving some quite uninformed and negative comments on social media," Ms Taylor said. "It absolutely broke my heart to see people I cared about, who have cared so well for my family, being treated like that when they were putting their lives at risk for us."
Meanwhile, the opposition produced a very noble story here with several paragraphs leading with Let’s....all very noble however there will be thousands out of work due to closed businesses or forced restructure, the economy can not and will not be the same.
