4AD dream pop legends Cocteau Twins announced Thursday that two more of their albums would be receiving vinyl represses, namely their 1982 debutwill have received in a decade, and the first pressing since the ‘80s forWhile the two aren’t nearly as groundbreaking as the aptly titled, but the two are worthy entries for both goth-heads and your general ‘80s alternative fans.Victorialand
’s sound is unlike any other in Cocteau Twins’ catalogue, being more stripped-back and mostly acoustic, one of the closest times the group ever came to full-on ambient, such as on track “Feet-like Fins,” which features very mild percussion via Richard Thomas on tabla. This means that the final studio album in their repertoire that has yet to come back to print is their incredible Harold Budd collaboration album, which features the fan-favorite track “Sea, Swallow Me.” Hopefully the album will get its due reward soon.
