ExclusiveSPENDING three hours in make-up every day hasn’t put Mackenzie Crook off writing some more episodes of Worzel Gummidge.has a further six instalments up his sleeve — and is just waiting for the BBC to give him the green light to shoot them.

Mackenzie Crook is lining up an entire series of Worzel Gummidge following its ratings success over Christmasand the day after attracted 4.8million and 4.1million viewers respectively. In an exclusive chat before the specials were screened, Mackenzie said: “The BBC are very happy with what we have delivered.”Barbara Euphan Todd’s creation WorzelHe added: “I was collecting half a dozen stories for a hypothetical series. Whether it happens like that or whether there will be more specials I don’t know yet. But there’s a wealth of material in the books and stuff that occurs to me too.

The actor, who wrote, directed and starred in the festive reboot, centre, has a further six instalments up his sleeveWorzel Gummidge was a TV hit, shown from 1979 to 1981 with Jon Pertwee as the loveable scarecrow.
