Not only in Britain, also in Italy. We require competence and a good balance between technical details and passion. Not just someone screaming saying nonsense. We want silence to appreciate the engine. We want to see on-track battles not the crowd.
Be interesting to see if the big bet on the 2021 regs changes anything. More people watched Gogglebox than the Spanish GP highlights on Channel 4. It’s a fundamental issue that the racing isn’t that attractive and there isn’t a driver for the average British fan to relate to.
Honestly I’m up for drop in sponsors. The whole things got out of hand to a point where the racing seems second to adversing. I don’t think it’s only the Sky switch; the racing has become gradually less engaging to watch over the last decade and it’s pretty predictable who’ll win

What they don't seem to get is that people only want to watch the race they are not interested in watching the load of guff that precedes it. Bit like football who watches the two hours pre match crap.

IndySport Interesting figures, pay tv always has an effect on viewing numbers compared to free to air. However changes of timing of races probably havent helped & structure of race day like having races start an hour later & anthem plus gap between it & start nullify things like grid walks

Hardly surprising news really because like everything else they want money from viewers, corporate greed. More people were interested & watched it when it was on ITV for free.

Overpriced subscriptions and some daft rules in the sport aren't doing it any favours.
I would sometimes watch as background TV, doing odd jobs etc and sit & watch some parts with a cup of tea, No way in the world would I ever pay to watch it.
