Trevoh Chalobah has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour of America.The defender finished last season as a regular in the Chelsea side after an injury-hit first part of the campaign.But he is a surprise omission from new manager Enzo Maresca’s 28-man travelling party amid uncertainty about his future.
Maresca is also keen to assess versatile defender and England youth international Josh Acheampong during the tour.Youngster Alfie Gilchrist, who made his first-team breakthrough last season and, like Chalobah, is a Chelsea academy graduate, is another notable absentee. Gilchrist is expected to head out on loan.Summer signings Tosin, Renato Veiga, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu have all travelled.
