I'm sure they exist, but I have met many Americans and none of them were so uninformed. The majority also have a rather humbling affection for the UK. Both sides of the Atlantic have their crazy and dumb inhabitants. Mostly Trump or brexit supporters, and often both.

I have met people in London who don't know a Scottish accent. They think I am Turkish, German or French etc? If I give a clue & say I am from the frozen North, they usually reply 'Russia?'. Although one Asian lad did make me laugh. He said 'I thought Scots would be taller'.
