The 24-year-old man attended the Strawberry Fields Music Festival and presented to a medical tent on Sunday morning, after consuming drugs GHB, MDMA and Cocaine.
The man entered cardiac arrest and was treated by medical staff, but died a short time after. The state government has been urged to implement changes to prevent more deaths after a tragic start to Australia's summer music festival season. Image: Getty
No amount of testing will change people behavior
Ok honestly do people really think that the only drug overdoses happen at music festivals and why are these deaths more important than the other deaths by illegal drug overdoses?
What part of ‘Illegal’ do people not understand?
He took the drug of choice just to much of it, can’t help stupid!!! Drug testing would have been irrelevant in this occasion because this fella is a big drug taker he doesn’t get his stuff tested and carries many pills on him and is a pretty common thing amongst the drug takers
Testing wouldn’t have help that guy as he took to many pills, no brains
Pill test ✔️ Confiscate ✔️ Arrest ✔️ Fine and/or jail ✔️ Problem solved ✔️
Poor drug prohibition policy is the problem. Legalise, decriminalise, regulate, include drug/pill testing to reduce harms. These deaths are preventable if prepared to listen.
Why is it the government's responsibility when individuals choose to roll the dice and take drugs that they have no idea where they came from or what is in them? People make choices that can have fatal consequences. Personal responsibility is a choice.
Hardline approach to pill testing 'failing' to save lives - RACGP 10 Dec 2018 · 'Unfortunately we know that pill testing won't work because it will give people the green light to taking ...
Pill testing can't prevent an overdose. But Pill Testing is actually endorsing drug addiction and paving the way for overdose to happen. If people die in these events it is simply time to ban the whole thing. What would happen if a person dies in every soccer match?
Drugs are illegal. People who take them must take responsibility for themselves. When will this pandering stop. Pill testing and safe injecting rooms are condoning the breaking the law. Either legalize drugs which I don't have a problem with or start enforcing the law.
Let the druggies run free.
I have to say if people are stupid enough to take the pills...…. We can't buy decent pain medication across the counter, but you nut cases want to make illegal drugs safe for stupid people?
It’s not the taxpayers responsibility to test your drugs, if you want to take drugs, either legal or illegal it’s your problem, if you take a cocktail of drugs what testing would prevent that.
Govt approved pill testing would transfers individual risk with drugs onto the tax payer. If they overdose on drugs, Tax payers could be mad to pay compensation to the family of the died? A simple solution would be to ask festival organisers to be responsible pill testing
People who put something in their bodies which they know might kill them and it does - RIP - we will be sad you are gone but that’s it - it’s not the government’s responsibility to check your drugs - if it’s dangerous don’t put it in your mouth
Look there were kids that did the testing over the weekend and they died. If the results of that being the ultimate fucking test don’t present enough of a compelling reason not to take pills then there’s no helping you.
Sure pill testing if it works but how many warnings do people need they get many on cigarette packs but people still smoke so why would pill testing work?
FFS! Don’t take the drugs 🤔🙄
Wouldn't it be great if politicians were as concerned with protecting the welfare of people who didn't break the law
Does MDMA and cocaine come in pills ? Apparently that's what the dead guy took. AlanJones ABC ABCIndigenous pm_live
Note- drug overdose. Probs had nothing to do with pill testing.
