Robert De Niro defends Anna Paquin's few lines in TheIrishman

Martin Scorsese’s three-and-a-half-hour long mob epic “The Irishman” became available on Netflix — and therefore its app — Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean the director wants viewers to watch the film on their phones. “I would suggest — if you ever want to see one of my pictures, or most films — please, please don’t [...

“In the middle of all of this, while this group of people in this country, black people are being oppressed, are being killed, are being murdered, there is still this beauty that cannot be killed and that is also what this movie is about,” says Jodie Turner-Smith. The model-turned-actor is talking about “Queen & Slim.” [...]With the holidays around the corner, Amazon Prime Video is adding an abundance of movies and TV shows to stream while relaxing at home.

That’s what I’ve been saying!

Dear AnnaPaquin fans. She was well compensated for her 10 minutes of screentime and 7 lines. Want to know how much I was compensated for all the short films I've done with longer screentime and more lines in a lead role? Hint: a lot less. Where's your bleeding heart for me?

The impact of her character was that she could convey emotions without speaking, but when she did, it resonated louder than all these selfish loud mouth assholes that dominated the film. Essentially the film is accurate to real life.

She's great in this

He's right. It does. She's the moral center of the film.

Oh please! Woman CAN speak you know?!

Her reaction throughout entire films reminds me of a girl who kept speechless when winning an Oscar 20 something years ago. Incredible.

Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin has no lines, and they were great

3 hours and 30minute movie and Sookie from true blood has 3 lines🤔

I could barely hear what she was saying. My AirPods fell out right when she started talking.

Her character was irrelevant.

He resonate! Because she needed a good father! No word needed! It was simply there! Until the really end! The young actress Peggy was also amazing.

Great, he defends Paquin but not Keitel?! How many underused male performances must we have before Hollywood takes notice

That’s what’s so great about The Irishman, the scenes where there’s nothing but quiet still speaks volumes.

I was surprised she would take such a small role, but it is Scorsese.

She’s excellent. You don’t have to speak lines to act. Her silence in this says more than words could. This is a non-issue.

Acting is more than speaking. Most people just don’t get it. It’s fine. She’s incredible

It only doesn’t resonate for dolts.

Robert, what's in your closet?

Honestly, she was my favorite performance in the whole damn thing.

I had zero lines in “The Irishman”, by that theory my performance resonates the most.

Typical for Scorsese. Like Coppolla and other “macho” American filmmakers who succeed mostly in stories about violent men and show little interest in female perspectives, sensibilities, of characters. What a pity.

'The Irishman': 12 of the Film's Stars and Their Real-Life InspirationsHow Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joey Pesci and more stars of Martin Scorsese's Netflix crime drama TheIrishman prepared to play real-life characters Spoiler: They didn't. They've been playing the same characters for 25 years. What a load of rubbish. Star-studded cast leads one to believe it will be a masterpiece. But the movie is so long-winded and drawn out..... lost interest after half an hour! seems like not much prep at all. De Niro, Pesci & Pacino are, certainly, past their prime. I don't know who was responsible for makeup on these guys, but it was terrible.
