The Phantom Menace is a beautiful movie that reinvented modern cinema just as ANH did in 1977. Without it we wouldn't have fast paced lightsaber duels, political backstory, podracing, Darth maul, double bladed ligthsabers, qui gon jinn, young Obi Wan by Ewan McGregor...
Just watched it again, my husband for the first time and we loved it. BuzzFeed, not so much.

The prequels are amazing! And introduced the Star Wars films to a whole generation at that time, myself included I was 6 when phantom menace came out and thanks to the prequel trilogy I’m a huge huge Star Wars fan!
It’s easily the best SW prequel, has the best lightsaber fight of the whole series to boot.

TPM is what made me a die-hard Star Wars fan and got me head-first into the fandom. Not the precious Sacred Cow that is the OT, not the ST. Can film-nerds and their joyless, toxic-boil of a community learn to never utter the words 'no one likes this film' ever again?

For me personally TPM is at the bottom of my favourite Star Wars films, but I still love it. Because I love every Star Wars film and believe that all 10 current films are fantastic in their own right. It may be on the bottom of my list but I still love it because it's Star Wars.

There are some flaws with Episode 1 but the Duel of the Fates is one of the best lightsaber fights in history and I will fight anyone who disagrees.

I love the prequels in addition to the original trilogy. I’m tired of seeing hate for it by so called “fans”. I grew up on it in addition to the originals. It was was literally half the main saga before Disney bought it.
