NEW: As of early afternoon Friday, Michael Bloomberg is spending up to $25.4 million in ad buys in multiple states, including California, New York, Florida, Texas and Illinois, ad service firm CMAG confirms to ABC News.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who legally jumped into the presidential race Thursday after filing official paperwork with the Federal Election Commission , is making a pricey entrance with an eight figure television ad campaign.

According to CMAG, not all television stations have filed their ad buy records from Bloomberg yet, so the numbers are expected to increase. On the Republican side, President Donald Trump has spent about $4.7 million on television, which brings the total for 2020's ad spending up to about $55 million. His wait-and-see approach isn’t stopping him from pouring millions into the 2020 race. Digital ads targeting Trump for his behavior, such as his"tantrums" and"lies," started running on Facebook recently.

MikeBloomberg You really want to win (or at least another dem), buy FOX. Then shut them down.

TheView Thank you Mr. Bloomberg’

Not one swing state among the ad buys? What a waste of $24 million! Give that money to the poor instead of feeding your ego Bloomberg.

Waste of money

GOP He should not be anywhere next to that white house, he was unable to relate to ordinary crime victims like me while he was mayor. The NYPD would even acknowledge my report after my apartment was burglarized and wrote a letter to the mayor explaining who the thieves was

He is wasting his money. That money could be used to pay for the insulin of Americans who cannot afford it, rent for people who have been evicted, electricity for people who cannot afford it during winter, and more...

Lots of money to spend just to lose to Trump.
