. When you look at the lineup, we have pretty much everybody that had an amazing year. It shows that the community [is there for us] in terms of supporting our show and wanting to be on our show.
Are there times when a booking don't work out for various reasons? Of course there are. But when you look at the 16 artists that we have booked on the show this year, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm thrilled. It's pretty apparent that we are successful in booking our show with the most important artists of the year.
Until the AMAs moved to November in 2003, the AMAs and Grammys were often just two weeks apart in January/February. Now, there is more separation between the two shows. Being in November is great. We're the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Generally, that's when artists are putting product into the marketplace, in that fourth quarter. People are getting ready for holiday buying, so it's good timing. Having a big live event around the holiday season -- it's kind of a time when people want to curl up on the couch and watch big events. We definitely think it's been a good spot for us.
Ciara is your host this year, taking over from Tracee Ellis Ross, who hosted the last two years. How did you select her as host?for the past few years. She's great on that show and she's just such a joy to work with. She's fun and warm and welcoming.We're in a climate right now where there are a lot of ratings challenges.
