The band has taken a mysterious, no-frills marketing approach to the album all week, beginning with, essentially, Wonka wrappers for the Brit-pop set: hand-signed notes to 500 Coldplay fans around the world, including half a dozen in Australia, which first touted the release.
"They’ve curated such an incredible campaign around this," says Warner Music Australia senior marketing manager Huw Araniego-Ellis. "And there's some real significance to what we've been able to do in a local sense, playing into the lore they've built around this album.
