Cardi's casting comes one day after the addition of Latin star Ozuna to the cast, withLet's be real, though, do we really think they could resist getting Cardi to spit a verse or two on there as well?
Cardi and Ozuna joins "Fast & Furious" mainstays Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Jordana Brewster, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron back for the ride as well. John Cena was already announced as joining the film, meaning Diesel and company appear to be ushering in the next generation of daredevil do-gooders into their franchise, much as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is undergoing right now.And like the MCU, the "FF" franchise is showing no signs of slowing down.
This is the second high-profile acting gig for Cardi, who looks to be following in the footsteps of many other hip-hop stars into a film career as well. For now, her role in the film remains undisclosed, but it would be great for her if it wasa stripper role. She was great in "Hustlers," but considering she was pulling from personal experience, it wasn't a huge stretch for her.
Fans will now be looking for her to show a little range, even though the "Fast & Furious" movies aren't necessarily known for their acting and artistry. Still, Cardi has an opportunity to show what she can do in an action film while continuing the injection of feminine energy and diversity into the franchise's all-star roster of talent.
