Engineer and producer Maria Elisa Ayerbe & music executives Luana Pagani and Elsa Yep will also be honored prior to the Latin Grammys., actress Dayanara Torres, audio engineer and producer Maria Elisa Ayerbe and music executives Luana Pagani and Elsa Yep will be honored as this year’s Leading Ladies of Entertainment by the Latin Academy.
All five will be feted during a private celebration taking place Nov. 12 in Las Vegas, two days prior to the Latin Grammys. This marks the third year the Academy has recognized “professional and socially conscious women within the arts and entertainment fields who have made significant contributions, inspiring the next generation of female leaders.” As ever, the Academy has chosen a mix of artists, executives and producers with influence in the industry. Downs, aside from her music, is known for her social activism, as is Torres. Ayerbe is one of the few active female producers in the Latin world.
"Through this exclusive platform, which continues to expand internationally, we aim to promote role models as living example for the next generation of young women who dream of a career in the arts, entertainment, or any other field they might want to pursue,” said Latin Recording Academy President/CEO Gabriel Abaroa.A portion of the event’s corporate sponsorships will go toward a scholarship for a young woman studying music.
