The ceremony will take place at an industry event Oct. 27 at Studio Bell, part of the National Music Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
"We are very proud to welcome these four highly deserving artists into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame," said CARAS president and CEO Allan Reid. "Canada has such incredible talent that are represented on the international stage and The Canadian Music Hall of Fame Ceremony Presented by Music Canada will help us recognize and honour these individuals for all of their artistic contributions to the cultural fabric of our country.
Established in 1978, The Canadian Music Hall of Fame recognizes Canadian artists who have made outstanding contributions to spotlighting Canadian music here at home and/or on the international stage. These four join such inductees as Joni Mitchell, k.d. lang, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Oscar Peterson, Rush, Anne Murray, The Guess Who, The Tragically Hip and Shania Twain.
With a few exceptions, the Academy typically inducts one artist to the Hall each year. Recent inductees have included Corey Hart, Barenaked Ladies, Sarah McLachlan, Burton Cummings and Alanis Morissette. Kim got his start working at the iconic Brill Building in New York and wrote such classics as "Baby I Love You," "Sugar, Sugar" and "Rock Me Gently." Curtola, who died in 2016 at age 73, had the hit "Fortune Teller," and received the first Canadian registered gold album. Chilliwack formed in 1970, and wrote such hits as "Lonesome Mary,” "Fly at Night” and "My Girl .
