A total of 1,176 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed in 27 public schools in Makati City, Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay said on Monday.

The installation is expected to improve security and ensure the safety of the students inside the school premises.

The CCTV cameras, according to Binay, are located at the entrance and exit gates of the schools and other strategic locations so security personnel can easily monitor any inappropriate or illegal activities inside the school premises and on its perimeter areas. Also installed with CCTVs are Maximo Estrella Elem. School, 56 ; Nicanor Garcia Elem. School, 40 ; Palanan Elem. School, 46 ; Gen. Pio del Pilar I Elem. School, 32 ; Gen. Pio del Pilar Main Elem. School, 55 ; and San Antonio Elem. School, 13 .
