SHE used to be one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood — and now Demi Moore has finally revealed the emotional traumas that left her career in tatters.
In 1991 she caused a global sensation by appearing naked while pregnant with second child Scout on the cover of Vanity Fair in a shot taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz.
She recalled: “I remember using my fingers, the small fingers of a child, to dig the pills my mother had tried to swallow out of her mouth while my father held it open and told me what to do.Ginny was saved — but stepdad Dan was not so lucky. He later took his own life aged 37 — two years after he split from Ginny. Demi was 17.
Bruce and Demi divorced in 2000. Three years after their divorce, Demi started dating actor Ashton Kutcher, 15 years her junior.And early in the relationship Demi lost their unborn child at the six month stage of her pregnancy.
Shortly before their divorce came through Demi suffered a drug-induced seizure while partying with eldest daughter Rumer. She describes her bid to stay on the straight and narrow as “soul-centered living”, adding: “Learning that I’m OK with just me was a great gift I was able to give myself.”After a stint in rehab and long-term treatment she managed to kick the booze and drugs and has reconciled with her familyThese days Demi splits her time between homes in rural Idaho and Hollywood — both of them bizarrely filled with children’s stuffed toys.
