It meant that Jeremy Scott, a kid from Kansas cum club kid and now demi-couturier, was the biggest name on Friday night’s opening ballot of shows in the Big Apple. Not bad for a designer who has never pandered to the establishment.

Speaking of amplifiers, Scott decided to outperform the noise of the political landscape that always impacts him with a collection dedicated to high-octane sound and the vision it inspires. “My imaginary intergalactic sci-fi rock band,” he called it. “Don’t they look like the coolest rock band you’ve ever seen? Neon lights channelled into humans and clothes.” If that sounds like a walk in the park for Jeremy Scott, it pretty much was.
