'After looking at my life for a few years with a microscope and a deep breath, I can honestly say that I’m grateful for everyone in my life.', was a painter from a coal-mining area in West Virginia and was illiterate – in fact, most of her family was. Emma lived in a trailer for a while and wanted it to feel bigger, so she made every wall a mirror. I don't think it had the effect she expected; it looked insane, but I loved it.

We met as six-year-olds at elementary school in North Carolina., Sandra Rushing, realised that my sometimes bad behaviour or lack of focus could be redirected, so she got me learning percussion to join the school band. That changed the course of my life. Being good at something gave me confidence and put me in a situation where I played well with others.in high school at the age of 16.
