Getting the 'Downton Abbey' cast back together was far from easy. But star Michelle Dockery is thankful: 'It changed my life.'

Character studies like “Joker,” sequels like “It Chapter Two” and “Terminator: Dark Fate” and the return of “Downton Abbey” are just a few of the films slated to be released this fall that we explore in our Fall Movie Sneaks.

It was important to Fellowes not to disrupt any of the happy endings he’d already afforded the characters, so the romantic drama primarily revolves around Branson upstairs and Daisy downstairs . “They were the two that weren’t, in that sense, settled,” Fellowes notes. “I had a reluctance to disturb what had been established.”

“When you’re sitting in a theater you have such a different sense of immersion in the event,” says director Michael Engler, who also helmed the series finale. “You want to take advantage of that as much as you can. When you see the scale of it you want to feel like it earns that. It needed to be on a bigger screen with better sound because the story is bigger and grander.”

I’d love to see a second Gosford Park. BobBalaban could direct. Get the whole cast back. A “reunion” to uncover an even bigger crime. Maggie Smith found the family treasure (cash of old stocks/bonds), hid it, is pretending to be in a coma when family comes around to protect it.
