Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage The old Taylor Swift is back with the release of her new album Lover, but with all those corkscrew curls and cats, a new Swift has also risen from the glitter: a politically outspoken one, who has expressed remorse that she didn’t strongly speak out against Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election.
“I come from country music. The number one thing they absolutely drill into you as a country artist, and you can ask any other country artist this, is ‘Don’t be like the Dixie Chicks!’” Swift recalled to The Guardian. “I watched country music snuff that candle out. The most amazing group we had, just because they talked about politics. And they were getting death threats.
Swift wound up collaborating with the Dixie Chicks on her final Lover track, “Soon You’ll Get Better,” a devastating love ballad. As for the 2020 election, she’s going to be all-in, whether you like it or not.

Stand for something or fall for anything.
Brave
In a culture where people are 'cancelled' if they sneeze the wrong way, can't say I blame her. But I'm glad she decided to take a stand.
That shows great... cowardice.
?
Shut up and sing...
It’s true, most unrepentant capitalists are cowards
Dixie Chicks are very popular in Canada. We love artists who stand up to things that are not right.
Brave of her.
So what?
