Hollywood actor Peter Fonda has died at the age of 79 following a battle with lung cancer, his family has said.In a statement, his family shared: ‘It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that Peter Fonda has passed away.
‘In one of the saddest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our hearts. As we grieve, we ask that you respect our privacy. He was pals with Byrds and The Beatles, and became the inspiration for The Beatles song She Said She Said after he said ‘I know what it’s like to be dead’, referring to a childhood shooting injury, while high on LSD with John Lennon and George Harrison.In 1968, he produced, co-wrote and starred in Easy Rider, directed by Dennis Hopper; he was nominated for the Academy Award for best original screenplay while Jack Nicholson was nominated for best-supporting actor.
