Film Review: ‘Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood’

), Rick’s longtime stunt double and best pal, who has become his gofer and driver. Both are drawling, easy-going good ol’ boys who are functional drunks , and they’ve been kicked around Hollywood, but they’ve got a yin-and-yang thing going.

Many have turned the spectacle of Charles Manson and his girls into drama, but Tarantino is onto something by viewing Manson’s followers as ominous harpies who also incarnated a new kind of sexualized feminine consciousness. And Tarantino takes us deeper than we’ve been into the life of Sharon Tate , who along with her husband, Roman Polanski , has rented the house next to Rick’s on Cielo Drive.

Rick, on the set of “Lancer,” turns out to be a desperate but terrific actor. There’s a sensational extended sequence of him playing the villain, forgetting his lines, hating himself in the trailer, then revving himself to go back and give a hell of a performance, and it’s all a testament to what an extraordinary actor DiCaprio is. Pitt is just as inspired.

This review really echoes my thoughts and feelings about the film.

It’s worth the price of admission if ONLY to see Brad and Leo on screen together. What a beautiful thing to behold.

Oh hell yeah it’s worth seeing awesome movie!!!

I get that the review has to be posted right away, but with a movie of this length & nuance--& given the collective experience of the rest of his filmography--judging whether its a 'masterpiece' without seeing it 3-5 times & letting it sink in for a year or two is futile.

Didn’t QuentinTarantino say he was ‘quitting Hollywood”? Well he should’ve done it before he made OnceUponaTimeinHollywood at least he would’ve gone out w a bang instead of pure boredom! SUCH a slow poorly done film

At least the Tarantino team is not shady about the VFX work. Unlike Roma, Cuaron wants us to believe that everything on the screen is the result of his magical super powers as photographer...

We were a group of 8...👎. Pitt and DiCaprio were great but the movie was slow, too long and did not get going until last half hour. Unanimous 👎
