It's 33 weeks until my 40th birthday and, in an attempt to do some Real Living™ before that milestone, last weekend I went to my first proper music festival, after an invitation from a work contact.I say "proper" because in 2008, for work reasons, I attended a now-defunct festival on the Gold Coast, for the grand total of one hour. So it doesn't really count.
With my outfits and a jar of biodegradable body glitter packed in my suitcase, along with my sense of adventure , I set off for Splendour. Still, it wasn't all cotton wool. What they don't tell you is that when the sun goes down it gets cold, like a frigid Melbourne winter morning. Getting to and from the venue will require the patience of a saint and the timing of an orchestra conductor. And that you will walk, for miles. Santorini ain't got nothing on this .
