'Top Gun' and the Complicated Legacy Facing 'Maverick'

What would San Diego Comic-Con be if not for a few surprises? Paramount had a big one in store for guests Thursday with Tom Cruise himself appearing to. The sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 hit, which launched Cruise to stardom, picks up more than 30 years after the events of the first film and finds Maverick’s career grounded thanks to his hot shot antics.
