From what I am hearing plot wise we got a mixture of Court of Owls about his father and some inspiration from Killing Joke as a comedian. Outside of that it is a character study of a man descending into madness. Perfect actor to do it and best actor working today in Phoenix.
It’s about a man who gets bent by society into an insane psychopath. There’s a lot of versatility within that plot. I’m excited for them to explore new territory
This REALLY looks like preemptive strike to explain away if the movie is a terrible flop. It must be because comic book fans couldn't stand something different, certainly nothing you can criticize the filmmakers for.

I feel like most of the people complaining don’t even read the comics in the first place. Part if the appeal of the Joker is that he has no definitive origin, it’s all multiple choice. This story is just one potential scenario. Give it a chance.
