. "The breaking point in my career came when Chrissy lost an extension," she says, referring to an Instagram story of Teigen hilariously lamenting over a lost strand. "She started posting about it and it opened the conversation."
Rather than a secret transformation, extensions were an opportunity to be, well, a little extra. A-Listers began tagging Valles in their social media posts, showing off their epic textures, lengths, and hues. "Women starting talking about their hair and realizing that everyone was getting extensions," she says. The extra pieces aren't always just for added length—although they've been known to take the Jenner siblings from choppy bobs toin a matter of hours.
With a private studio in Beverly Hills, Valles has more than a few rooms filled with hair, which the pro sources from a vendor in Russia. "She has a translator on Whatsapp," says the stylist, who normally acquires pieces via text, "but we speak the same language when it comes to hair." While there are many different techniques to apply the strands Valles deems the individual keratin bond method the most seamless.
The price isn't cheap—a couple of rows start at around $2,500 and can go all the way to $8,000 for a full head of hair. But fortunately, Valles is opening a Las Vegas salon this month, at the newly renovated, where clients can get fuller, longer, or even colored hair at a more affordable price. Although the spot offers other hair and beauty services, they specialize in extensions, and each stylist has been trained by Valles herself.
