ILOILO CITY – Iloilo Governor Arthur “Art” Defensor Sr. marks his last few days as a public servant that spanned more than five decades. “Some good things must come to an end,” Defensor said as he attended his last flag ceremony before stepping down on June 30.

ILOILO CITY – Iloilo Governor Arthur “Art” Defensor Sr. marks his last few days as a public servant that spanned more than five decades.

The 77-year-old has served as Iloilo provincial governor for 18 years—from 1992 to 2001 and 2010 until 2019. He also served as congressman, assemblyman and town mayor of Mina. “I have shown the example that an official can run this government in a very transparent and accountable manner,” emphasized Defensor.
