The GMA, awarded by the Ministry of Culture's Department of Audiovisual and Music Industry, is recognized in the Chinese-speaking world as being the "Grammys of Taiwan."
Started in 1990 and celebrating its 30th installment this year, the GMA is one of the three major performance awards in the country, alongside the Golden Bell Awards and the Golden Horse Awards . Yuzu will be the only Japanese act to perform in this year's GMA ceremony. The last time members Yuujin Kitagawa and Koji Iwasawa performed live in Taiwan was in 2017 for a concert tour, and they said they're very honored to be invited to this historic event.
The Japanese superduo will be performing their hit song "Eiko no Kakehashi" backed by Taiwan-born singer-songwriter Evan Yo's piano. "We'll sing from the bottom of our hearts," they promise, "so that we can become a 'bridge' that brings Asia together like the title of our song."
