Considering Bobby Krlic performs under the name The Haxan Cloak, a name which harks back to the 1922 Swedish witchcraft classic, it's only fitting that the British producer was tapped to create the score for a new horror film that takes place in Sweden.director Ari Aster, comes out July 3 and features a score from Krlic, who earned critical acclaim as the mastermind behind the dark, harrowing electronic soundscapes of the Haxan Cloak.
Krlic's relationship to the film is a unique one – Aster wrote the screenplay while listening to his music. In addition to creating the film score, Krlic also composed the diegetic music, creating droning, atonal ritualistic chants for the fictional festival in the film . “Trying to live up to the expectations of a director who wrote the script to my music was an intimidating task,” Krlic says. “But in the end I believe it’s been the most rewarding and deeply educational experience I’ve ever had. Not only was working with Ari Aster an honor, but the work was a true collaboration.”, Krlic worked with Bjork on 2015's instant classic
