, out Friday via Thirty Tigers. The duo, made up of Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance, produced the project alongside Jamie Mefford , whichThe band recorded the 11-track project at Ward Lodge Studios, overlooking the San Isabel National Forest in Colorado. Fittingly titled"It’s been a minute since we put out an album,” Clay tellswith a few years more experience and perspective, and I think it shows in the songs. A lot has changed. I’m a father now; my whole world has shifted.
Adds Chance, "Our goal when we set out was to be able to perform these songs with only two voices and a guitar and have them feel good to play. We intentionally took our time at every step along the way and let the whole process unfold naturally." Jamestown Revival’s stirring harmonies and captivating storytelling are at the forefront of each song. Their music blends country, Americana and folk influences while accompanied by delicate percussion, acoustic guitars and, at times, added banjo, steel guitar, harmonica and tambourine. The duo penned 10 of the 11 tracks with the exception of a memorable cover of The Mama & The Papas’ 1965 hit, “California Dreamin.
"A song on the album that puts this all in to words for me is ‘Harder Way.’ My father has always told me it’s not about the station, it’s about the journey you take to get there,” Clay explains. “‘Harder Way’ is about taking a long hard look at how you’re spending your time on the tracks." Another striking track on the project is “Who Hung the Moon,” which remains a special song to Chance. “It’s a song born out of time spent stargazing and hiking in places like Sedona, Arizona and Joshua Tree, California,” he says. “It’s meant to be a reminder to sit back and be present for as many of the beautiful moments as you can."
