K-pop boy band BTS and Bang Si-hyuk, CEO of Big Hit Entertainment, have been invited to join the Recording Academy as members.

According to Big Hit Entertainment, BTS received invitation to join as voting members while Bang Si-hyuk as professional member.

BTS and Bang Si-hyuk are among the 1,340 invited this year to join the academy composed of 1,186 voting members and 154 professional members. For this year’s group of invited members, female members account for 49 percent while 47 percent are males. Currently, females comprise 26 percent of academy members.
