MANILA - Veteran actor Eddie Garcia suffered a "severe heart attack" while he was shooting a television series in Manila, his family said in a statement Saturday.
Hours before the announcement, pictures circulated on social media showing a seemingly unconscious Garcia being carried by several men while a crowd gathered around. "Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all those who have expressed concerns and extended prayers," the statement read.
In 2012, he admitted to suffering from "slight sleep apnea" which he quickly got checked at the Makati Medical Center, but remained generally healthy in the next few years.
