Rome, Italy A cruise ship crashed into a Venice dock on Sunday, hitting a moored tourist boat and sending onlookers running for safety in what one witness said resembled a"scene from a disaster movie."

MSC has had so many new buildings in recent years, that it is doubtful they can be paid for by internally generated revenue from their cargo operations, so I wish they were more transparent about the identity of all of their investors and the sources of loans.

I’m in Venice and saw that ship coming in. There are a lot of them here, they’re HUGE, and they’re ruining Venice. You can FEEL IT every time one arrives. It’s like an invasion. Thousands flood the narrow walkways. Protesters wanting them banned. Couldn’t agree more.
But finding a parking space is so difficult
Simple. Wealth has been rising and service providers are falling over their feet to make things cheaper in the belief that volume is the most profitable answer. It’s not. Overcrowding is spoiling the experience for all. Restrict access, price goes up, profit stays.

As the article pointed out 'technical difficulties'. These ships have harbour pilots on board, very experienced captains and crews and likely dock at various ports 100's of times a year. The failure of a bow or stern thruster, main engines, or electrical failure caused this.

The large ships shouldnt be any where near Venice
Ships are getting too big and invading Ports in excessive quantities. At this rate there will be more harbour accidents. There should be a restriction on both aspects. The really big ones have the population of a town so should remain at sea.

And I thought the only danger on a cruise ship was being locked up with thousands of people who have contracted a fast spreading illness that causes vomiting and diarrhea and they won’t let you leave it.
