Da Vinci’s knack to make remote connections was certainly at the basis of Leonardo’s genius to form analogies between totally different systems. He associated the movement of water with the movement of human hair, designed weapons of war, the bicycle, to name a few. Imaginative!

Germaine Greer is not an art critic, who would judge an art work in context to it’s time. Of course, she can judge it subjectively and it would be considered her own opinion. I guess that’s ok. The Mona Lisa is important in art history. The painting is also a national treasure.

I just read about her. I won’t attack her. The number of self installed rage filters that stimuli must pass through to get her brain must make it unsettling to be her. I don’t have to be annoyed by her. In any moment of real honesty, I’m sure she’s annoyed by herself.
Greer has some points, but at the same time she is piling up a lot of unnecessary emotional ballast trying to knock off Leonardo from the pedestal. Leonardo is so much more than a painter & there is no need to diminish his statue. It looks like Greer is trying to elevate herself.
