A wonderful gesture.

From their teacher to the janitor, they all play a role in helping with their education. When the janitor at Sand Hill Primary School, John Lockett – also known as Mr John – finally decided to retire at 83 years old, the kids wanted to give him a great send off.

He worked at the school for more than a decade after a long career in construction. He finally decided to retire after suffering from health issues. Described by Principal Carla Meigs as the ‘grandfather at school’, he’s more than just a janitor to the kids. ‘He’s at work every day no matter how bad he feels with a smile on his face,’ Principal Meigs told KHOU11.To celebrate, the kids turned him into a king for the day, giving him a cape and a crown. He walked down the hallway collecting cards as they shouted his name. They also presented him with a cake saying ‘Happy Mr John Day’ and a framed print highlighting his work.

Zebra, Pelican… and Mouse Crossing? Britain’s official road sign designer and Disney join road safety effort for kids.Britain’s official road sign designer Margaret Calvert OBE has added Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck to a new set of road signs to help teach kids about road safety and call on drivers to slow down around schools and nurseries. The special signs mark a new initiative with preschool channel Disney Junior and road safety charity Brake and feature characters from hit TV show Mickey and the Roadster Racers. The road safety initiative follows research revealing that four in five parents are concerned about the speed of cars around their children, with two in five saying it has become too dangerous to walk their kids to school. The campaign will see Mickey and the Roadster Racers road safety guides distributed to schools nationwide and available to download on Brake’s website . 🙂 So kids wont listen to road safety messages unless Micky ruddy Mouse is on the signs? WTF.
