Leaked text messages obtained by Sky News show former Northern Territory Labor Leader urging supporters to oust Chief Minister Michael Gunner and have him replaced by Infrastructure Minister Eva Lawler.

In the leaked messages, former NT Labor Leader, Delia Lawrie, allegedly said ‘someone needs to call out Gunner’, adding that ‘if he cared more about the Labor Party, the Labor government and the territory than himself, he would resign to restore integrity and faith in government’.

Ms Lawie goes on to push for Eva Lawler to replace Mr Gunner, saying ‘she has the strongest CV, no young kids and is a local’ adding ‘I don’t know what she’s like in Caucus but surely she’s better than Gunner’. Ms Lawler has denied she is gunning for the top job, saying ‘Michael absolutely has my full support’.
