The popular daytime show had stopped recording and broadcasting on ITV following the death of 63-year-old Steve Dymond, a week after he appeared on an episode. The circumstances led to increased criticism of the show with Downing Street even expressing concern about how participants are treated.The show also aired weekdays in Ireland on Virgin Media Television.“Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show. The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end,” ITV’s CEO Carolyn McCall said in a statement.
The broadcaster had initiated a review into the episode in question and said in its statement this would go ahead despite the cancellation of the show. Everyone at ITV’s thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond The previously announced review of the episode of the show is underway and will continue. ITV will continue to work with Jeremy Kyle on other projects.
