The life of Hollywood’s first female black movie star is set to be immortalised in a one-woman show in London.
‘We take the audience on a journey through Horne’s 60-year career, culminating in her triumphant return to Broadway in the 1980s,’ Camilla tells Metro.co.uk.‘The show navigates Horne’s emotional ups and downs throughout her life. Her personal struggles with race and identity, love and career. ‘I’ve been extremely close to so many roles and lost out to actors because they had more profile then me, and I’ve had my lines or scenes cut because the “star” wanted more screen time.
‘She represents so much in terms of artistic integrity, grit, professionalism, racial and cultural identity, and the evolution of popular music and the entertainment business.
