Labor remains on track to win the federal election, according to the two-party preferred results in two opinion polls released overnight.

However, they show widely different movements in Bill Shorten's ratings. The Ipsos poll indicates the Opposition Leader has risen by five points as preferred prime minister.

The latest Newspoll contradicts the results, showing Prime Minister Scott Morrison gaining ground as the preferred leader of Australia, cementing his position 46 to 35. Image: News Corp Australia
