In the city's plans for the new Mobile Civic Center complex, there is a spot saved for a new theater, just not concrete plans to build it.That's why he's started a change.org petition titledAfter just five days, that petition already has more than one thousand signatures.

Local Mardi Gras artisan Ron Barret and his crew thought that stage, that theater deserves one last hurrah. Big Broadway productions, like Les Miserable, blockbuster performances such as Riverdance, and local performers, like the Mobile Symphony as well as America's Jr. Miss , they all graced the stage that is about to be demolished as the city prepares to reconstruct the new civic center.

So this Thursday night will be that last “hurrah”- with the final production being "Play It Just One More Time- The Closing of the Mobile Civic Center Theater."
